Forgot Master Password in FileVault

If the master password has been forgotten and you don't care about the account anymore would you be able to reformat the disk?

For some reason every time i use the install disk to reformat the hard drive the encrypted account is still there. What gives?

Can I start fresh and get rid of everything?

Do you still know the passwords for the accounts in your Filevault? I may have found a way to get rid of the master password in Filevault but you need to know the passwords to each account in Filevault.

You know guys I think this problem has worked itself out somehow......and honestly don't ask me how because I don't exactly know how it happened. Thank you all for your responses.

Filevault can be real nasty. Try formatting the drive using the "write zeros" option.
