The slim edition of the classic Xbox 360 with a 250GB HDD and built-in Wi-Fi. Repair requires intricate prying and special tools.

How do I replace the front power switch cable?

When I first took my 360 Slim apart, I tore the RF cable and it's now barely intact. The console turns on and works perfectly fine, except power on/off and the eject button don't work. You could argue that's a benefit, but I want to get it fixed. If my console ever goes south, you'd need the eject button to report the RLOD code specific to the error.

I know I need to take the old cable off the front panel, but are there any considerations for applying a new one? I haven't found much on iFixit regarding applying one, so I'm trying to see if there's anything to look out for. Cheers!

Hi there!

You need to buy a new cable. Remove the old one (it's lightly glued/taped on it). And put the new one in. The new one have most of the time already pre-applied tape, so you can put it in there.

What also is possible, is that you buy a new front panel with the cable already in!
