The 3rd generation iPhone SE was announced on March 8th during the Peek Performance Apple event. It features an A15 chip and a 4.7-inch LCD display, similar to its predecessor, the iPhone SE 2020.

Does iOS 18 still have the lock if you change a part?

I heard if you change a part iPhone will ask you for an iCloud from the iPhone that the part is from. Is it true? Does it still work?

It's true that when you replace certain parts of an iPhone, like the display, logic board, or battery, the device may prompt you to enter the iCloud credentials associated with the original device. This is part of Apple’s Activation Lock security feature, which helps prevent unauthorized repairs and theft. The device essentially checks if the replacement parts match the original ones and may require the original iCloud account to confirm that the repair is legitimate. This feature is particularly active with repairs involving key components like the logic board, and Apple has made it more difficult to bypass these restrictions, especially with third-party parts. However, not all replacements trigger this prompt, and the process is smoother when using official Apple parts or services. If you’re using third-party parts, there's a higher chance of running into iCloud-related issues. To avoid complications, it's best to rely on authorized repair services or genuine components.

The only part that is locked by iCloud is the logic board. Other parts may have reduced functionality if not from the original phone, (for example replacing the home button removes its function entirely unless the process is performed by Apple as part of a screen replacement, where it is paired with the device.

Update: I forgot about this development. It is possible in some phones. Per Apple's documentation that it could be locked, but it depends on which part.

Rear Camera is in the clear. Only Display, Battery, True Depth Camera, or Home button are affected by this.
