The March 2015 update of Apple's 13" MacBook Pro Retina Display, model A1502, features fifth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and introduces the Force Touch trackpad.

Replaced battery and charger, battery still not charging

My MacBook would no longer turn on even when plugged in, so I replaced the battery using an ifixit battery, and I also replaced the charger.

The Mac turns on now when plugged in, but it’s not charging the battery. I tried a SMC reset, doesn’t appear to be a change. When plugged in, if you click on the battery icon in the top banner it says “Power Source:Adampter’ Battery Not Charging”

What is the color of the MagSafe plug? Amber or Green. If there is no light then the MagSafe connector is likely dirty or may need replacement MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 MagSafe Boards

If you can install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the Apps main window and post it here so we can see it.

MagSafe plug is Amber (though initially when I plug it it’s green, then changes a sec seconds later).

@mberry53181 - Well… this looks like a bad battery! The onboard microcontroller is not communicating with SMC. I haven’t played with the new version 4 of CoconutBattery yet so in the older release we got NaN as an error in the power thermometers, now it’s blank! And the old values of your battery are still being shown via SMC as they have not flushed out yet with updates.

Contact the store for a replacement and let’s get a snapshot just after you install it, then let the system charge for the night.
