A television game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, also known as PS4. First announced February 20, 2013 and released November 15, 2013.

Is it possible to use the DVD drive from a PS4 in an external box?

My PS4 broke, and I would like to use the Blu-ray drive separately in an external enclosure, as a reader (maybe also writer) for computers and TVs. Is this possible?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi there!

Not by factory defaults. You still will face 2 problems there.

1: The PS4 disk drive do NOT use a SATA port, but a custom made ribbon cable (Sony’s work)

2: The PS4 disk drive do NOT have the SATA factory power port. It’s all custom (again Sony’s work).

So you need to find a way to power the disk drive properly, the same for the data (SATA) port. It’s very difficult nearly impossible to get it fit in a external closure.

There is probably no guide by anyone who have tried this.

I recommend to buy a “ready to use” blu-ray disk drive. Unless you want to start a new project (again, it’s nearly impossible to get a stable PS4 disk drive).

Sorry!
