activate the water dispenser and then it blows the filter out.
I have a Maytag fridge (French door with freezer on the bottom and water dispenser in the door. Recently the water stopped dispensing so I replaced the filter with one from Maytag. I can hear pressure buildup when I activate the water dispenser and then it blows the filter out. It’s like the pump kicks on but something is preventing the water from coming out of the door. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Sorry I should have included that. It’s MFW2055YEB02
Is this a good question?

Hi @loren74262
What is the model number of the refrigerator?

Hi @loren74262
Just verifying that the model number of the filter is EDR2RXD1?
Does the ice maker work OK?
Does the problem of the filter blowing out still occur if you install the original filter that you replaced?
There are two water valves in the refrigerator. One for the water dispenser and one for the ice maker
They both supply water through the same filter.
Seems as though there may be a blockage in the new filter or it is not clicked correctly in place in the filter housing

Neither the water dispenser or the ice maker works. The filter is definitely snapped in all the way and the cover gets pushed down as the filter is pushed in and the cover snaps closed. No matter what filter is installed. Neither the water dispenser or the ice maker works. You can hear the pump kick on when you engage the dispenser and you can hear the pressure increase (boggs down the pump) until you hear the filter disengage and the cover pops open then the water comes out to relieve the pressure that had built up. It’s a very weird situation for sure. Everything seems to be engaging as it should until nothing comes out.
I just don’t want to waste $125 for the single valve if that’s not going to do anything. I thought about unhooking the water line and blowing air through the line but didn’t want to damage anything.

We've seen this issue on other fridges where the problem turned out to be that the filter needed to be twisted a certain amount to seat correctly and it took a lot more force than was expected to get it to turn correctly. That's a consideration, but be careful that you don't go hog wild and break something in the process.

We’ve had it for 10 years and change the filter every year. It’s always been snap in and go but this time around something is definitely up with it. I’ve tried 3 new filters and the old one and it’s acting the same exact way regardless of the filter that’s in the snap on slot
