Cracked my front panel, LCD intact, but home button not working?

Do I need to replace just the screen and the button or will I need to spend the $200 and replace the LCD as well?

in the iPhone 3GS, the LCD display itself is a separate component behind the front glass/digitizer, so you can avoid replacing the LCD display if that still works, and save yourself a bit of money.

the part for the front panel assembly including digitizer(front glass) and home button is here
