Bluetooth no longer working after a fall

Long story short, the JBL speaker fell from about 7-8ft. It still seems to work fine except that Bluetooth no longer works. The speaker will not show up on my phone or anywhere else.

I've tried -- soft resetting with + and Play button, disconnecting the battery, reflowing the Bluetooth chip and some surrounding components. Nothing seems to give it life. I couldn't find a schematic for the essential either, I saw a few for other models but they aren't quite the same.

Any ideas?

If the bluetooth can be turned on by the press of the BT button, I would assume that the bluetooth antenna's cable broke.

If you can provide some photos of the interior I can try to identify said cable.

I don’t think there’s much to break as far as the antenna goes, it’s a short IPX connection that’s glued down and attached to a thin flexible antenna that is taped to the inside of the shell. The connection to this is also glued on and appears to still be soldered.

Some other advice I had gotten was that potentially the crystal clock chip broke. My O-scope gives it some wild readings so I just ordered a few to try. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Thanks

Did the fall affect the startup sound? I may have the same issue and I have also tried a number of reset button combinations. Not sure what to look for, when and if I open it up.

Même problème après une chute:

  • Plus de son au démarrage
  • Plus de connexion au bluetooth
  • Aucune pièces visible endommagé
  • Charge et s'allume toujours

Si quelqu'un a une idée
