GE refrigerator light under door stays on when doors are shut

My GFE27GSDCSS light on bottom of the French door stays on when doors are shut-- though the light is supposed to indicate a door is open, there isn't one. Tested the door alarm, and that goes off too, but we cannot figure out why. Please help!
