unable to upgrad certain software or when downloading unable to upload

hi, for some reason when i try to upgrade or run a new software I am unable to. it starts the process of installing and right before the last step I get the air message, can not install. I downloaded coconut battery software the icon is there but when i click to open it, it closes within the 1 minute. Its done that with other software as well. And yes I am checking the if my macbook is compatible.

thanks.

Also, my battery shows it's charged but after a couple of minutes it goes down to 0% charged. I connect the power cord and it will run but then it suddenly shuts down. I've done the remove the battery and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and return battery. Is it my dc-in board or the non energy part?

Might be Disk corruption- use DiskUtility:Repair Disk. Not enough free space (need 20% of total for VMem swap files etc. Failing HDD

I too have a flakey battery in my MacBookAir - still don't have a handle on it. Often in the Menu "no battery available", 0% charge, broken charger icon and I can't start from battery, but resetting SMC and PROM will sometimes fix it for a while (battery cycles low, charging is ok) - then suddenly no battery detected, battery not charging.

thanks machead for the info, I did the disk utility and the repair disk was not highlighted so i couldn't click that 1, but I did do the verify, verify permission, and the repair permission and everything seemed ok, except this has me confused:

Permissions differ on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences, should be -rwxrwxr-x , they are -rw-rw-r--

Owner and group corrected on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences

Permissions corrected on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences

Permissions differ on ./Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin/Contents/MacOS/Flash Player, should be -rwxrwxr-x , they are -rw-rw-r--

could this be my issue, and if so how can i fix this? and the battery, I've done the PROM and SMC and still acts up. again thank u!

Permissions repair are not as critical as Master Boot Directory Damage. Permissions could cause a read/write problem. Boot from an install disk to use disk repair. Mac Permissions repair is known for leaving some files untouched. Shockwave merely plays web and other video/animations... Preference files can be deleted with no problem... they will be recreated next boot/use.
