After removing cover to clean dust, 3GS wont charge?

Hi all, I recently removed the screen on my Iphone 3GS so I could get rid of the dust under the glass. All went really well and after rebuild everything seems to work perfectly. However when I went to charge it that night I couldnt get it to charge via wall or computer. My computer also doesnt see the iphone.

I thought that I somehow might have damaged the dock connecter but everything looks OK, and my microphone and speakers still work fine (is that normal if the dock connector is damaged)

Can anyone advise of anything I could try to determine what is wrong, or things I could do to find what parts I might have damaged. It all worked perfectly before opening up.

Thanks for the help.

jamie, do you see anything on the screen? I would try a hard reset and see if that makes any difference.

**UPDATE**

After playing around with it last night and stripping it completely finally managed to get it charging, the problem is it will only charge when the screen is not firmly pushed into the case and screwed down. The minute I push in the screen the charging stops.

So either the screen is pushing against somethign that is stopping it charging, or moving something. or it is something to do with the home button connection, as that are the only two thigns I can see that change when you push the screen in.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Chosen Solution

Carefully re-connect Flex Cable #4 to the Logic Board. Before opening and during any repair of iPhone 3GS make sure the iPhone is OFF.
