Hi adrianskat, did you check the pins (white/red/black) of the battery? Are the wires soldered accordingly? (see the manual for iPod Touch 1st Generation, step #17)

Connect it to the charger, and try to start it up, it should show the apple logo if the logic board is ok...

If it doesn't react, remove the battery and plug it in the charger see if it starts, if no apple logo most probably the logic board is dead.

*Also try to connect to a PC with the usb cable and hold the home button, it shoud start in recovery mode, or put in in dfu mode and wait for the sound of connecting to the computer.

so thanks for the help when i plug the iPod to the computer it turned on and now my only problem is that when i tried using it but the home button sunk all the way in so does this mean i have to reopen and fix the home button? or is their another way of popping it out into place?

You will have to reopen it, and push the metal piece from the back, sometimes, between the home button and that metal piece with the flex, is a metal circle so it can move away from the center and let the home button fall in.
