Screen has a grey stripe

I replaced the home button and after I put all the pieces together the screen has a stipe going up and down the screen works but I can use it I just can't see

How do I fix it ?

Hi Dulce,

A grey stripe on a screen is the result that some lines (depending on the width of the stripe) are not powered any more.

This might be caused (examples):

a) through a connector that must rest flat but which is actually not

b) through a spot at the frame of the screen where the conductor path was lifted or got loose (e.g. through a tiny piece of anything or - accidently through pulling too strong on the ribbon cable of the connector)

I suggest you open the iPhone again and check all connections, especially the connector of the LCD (see the manual for the iPhone 4, step 17; the connector marked by the orange rectangle).

Also, depending on the width of the stripe, I would check the affected top and bottom area of the LCD frame.

If anything doesn't work, I would suggest to buy a new LCD/digitizer unit and to replace the old one.
