home button doesn't work

i have just replace the back cove case and my home button doesn't work i don't know what to do ,please help i have an 3g iphone 16gb

Hi Georgianem,

Replacing the back cover means that you completely disassembled the iPhone.

It seems that after re-assembling the iPhone, the connection between the Homebutton and the mainboard is interrupted.

The Homebutton, when you press it, usually gets in contact with the two (solder) joints that are located on the left side of the Dock-connector (in the manual for the iPhone 3G you see it in the picture of step 16 above "J3").

I would first check if the Dock connector sits correctly before I would try anything else.
