Is it normal for a battery to smell like acetone?

A couple of weeks ago my Pixel 6 (~3 years old) started giving off an acetone smell, and based on some Googling, I suspected it might be a battery issue. Yesterday, I replaced the battery using the kit from iFixit, and noticed that the replacement battery gave off a similar smell, though not quite as strong. Nothing appeared to be wrong with the replacement (no visible damage or swelling). Is it normal for them to have a bit of an odor?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I haven't replaced my battery yet but I am facing the same thing just hoping it doesn't turn into a Note 7 disaster.

If the phone is giving off that smell while sealed, that can be an issue however if the battery itself while exposed smells slightly, you should be fine. It may go away after a few days as smells from bad batteries can stick around for a bit. If it continues after say a week, i would contact ifixit for a replacement or a return.
