Do I need to replace partially torn audio jack cable (interior)?

While doing a combo power and sensor cable/dock connector repair (I tore the dock connector completely while peeling it back) I noticed a small half-tear to the black cable attached to the audio jack that connects to the logic board. Will this function in its current state or do I need to replace it?

Tom, I would suggest that you fix what is broken. I would honestly not expect it to work if it does not get replaced/repaired. Broken, even partially broken, parts usually cause you more trouble later on. Replace it now and be done with it. :-) Just my 2 cents, good luck

Thanks for the advice. Also, do you think you could take a look at this question? I'm having trouble with the front-facing camera. iPhone Front camera won't fit into place..
