Why is my keyboard does not have backlight?

Hello guys,

I recently buy an used MacBook Pro Mid-2009 and it's works perfectly, besides the backlight of the keyboard, this under Snow Leopard or Lion.

So, I take my screwdriver and openup the case, and found this :

The cable is not connected and there is no connector. How to fix that ?

Thanks,

Adimo

This is sort of a "known issue" as per this thread. You may have a "new" model with the sensor by the iSight Camera. Some units, I understand, were found to be defective. Follow the link to Apple Discussions off the thread.

In fact, the backlight has never works since I have the macbook, even when I hit F5 or F6.

In that case you have a damaged machine... if you got a really good deal you may consider replacing the sensor (but since the keyboard switch doesn't work it might be a logic board issue, I understand there were a few of those). Only you can determine how much $ you want to put into this.
