How can I extend my iPhone's camera?

Hi,

I got this iPhone I don't use anymore, and I'd like to experiment with it. One thing I wanna do is to extend its camera. I've opened it (carefully) and I got the camera lens, but there I don't really know how to proceed.

On this picture : HERE you can see there's a FCB (Flexible Circuit Board). It's not just a ribbon cable so I don't know how I could extend this..

The second option would be to find a male-female adaptor to place between the pcb and the lens connector, but is it even possible to find this kind of adaptor ?

In theory yes you can. It could be very expensive or you could try and do it cheaply. You would need another camera to take the connector end from and also buy the FPC connector for the logic board. Next you have to use fine wires (and tape to secure them in place like a pseudo flex)/ solder writing pen and tape or etch your own flex to make the flex as long as you want for the project you have in mind.
