Have you checked that the vacuum cleaner dust canister is empty?

Were you using the vacuum cleaner for a long time with the canister nearly full?

Just asking as there's a temperature cut out inside vacuum cleaners that turns it off to prevent the motor from burning out and usually it takes 20-30 minutes to cool down enough so that it can be used again
