ana, first try to place your iPod in diagnostic mode. It is a bit tricky and you may have to attempt this a couple of times.Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the center SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Run the diagnostics and see what you get. Unless you are using a firewire cable, it will give you an error on the FW. That is okay. Once the test is done press SELECT & MENU for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again. You could also try to place your iPod in disk mode and see if your computer recognizes it at all. This link will show you how to access disk mode. Should this not work, disassemble your iPod using this guide. Check for any loose cables, connectors or any broken parts. Hope this helps, good luck.
