i'd like to relocate camera

i'd like to relocate or change the orientation of the internal camera to face out the side of the housing. any suggestions?

I'm sure if there was enough space inside the rear case you could do it. The biggest problem is the metal bezel blocking the aperture as there is a bracket in the upper corner near the camera holding the bezel in to the rear case, and besides that the bezel is quite wide. The flex cable for the camera is very short so you'd have difficulty trying to bring the actual camera to the plastic casing to ensure focus etc. (it clips on to the rear of the motherboard and the camera is then pretty tight in against everything) Personally I can't see any great reason you'd want a side facing camera, but it is doable if you're happy to start drilling holes in an otherwise very nice looking phone. I'll go and measure the camera and the case and then see what you think...
