MacBook fell on floor, doesnt start?

Macbook Intel Core Duo 2

Hi there, I'm really new to this and have no plan how to fix anything...

here is my situation: my macbook fell from my "laptop pillow" on the floor (about 30cm) but it kept working for more than one week, then suddenly turned off!i started it again and it took way longer than usual..the next day i tried to start it again but there was only the "starting-noise" and the blue/grey starting screen with the apple (for about 10minutes) and then it turns off again!the battery is working normal...

is there anything i could do??

thanks a lot in advance!

best regards from austria

Try starting up from your original system installation disk. Insert the disk and hold down the "C" key while booting. Go to the second screen and the pull down menu will appear. Go to Utilities > Disk Utility and see if your hard drive appears in the left hand column. If so, click on it and see if it can be repaired. After this repair your permissions. If the drive fails to appear, I would replace it. To get you to the correct guide for replacing your drive, please give us the last three figures of your serial number, usually located in the battery compartment.
