Provide us with the last four numbers and letters of the serial number of the unit. So, first check which apps aren't working and what unit do you exactly own. Before further troubleshooting, if the unit still acts up. have you tried going into iTunes, making a full backup of the unit, then getting into DFU mode and starting from a "clean" install? Then, if it works, reload the backup.

sometimes you need to update your apps or they are no longer compatible with your OS. For example your iPod is OS4.1 but the app is now built for OS 5.2.You need to take a note of what your OS is and which apps are crashing and check that out. You may also have a rogue app, if this is a new problem try deleting the last app installed and then reinstalling.

Well, I've got a legacy iPod myself, a 2g Touch, and I'm fairly sure the Store won't allow you to upgrade applications beyond the limits of the supported iOS. I don't know how it will react with .ipa and other rogue ways to install.

It all depends from the number and the quality of applications involved in the crash. If, for example the iPod acts up even with reputable applications coming straight from the App Store, I'd DFU it and reload a fresh backup before attempting everything else.

If there are rogue installations included, I'd remove them. However, a "revirgin" usually clears up every software issue at once, and takes only half an hour.

However, before revirgin be sure to have a backup of your music too. It gets, obviously, removed from the unit.

Also, the jailbroken, if present, would have to be reapplied.

However, the point is that: testing the unit with stock firmware and a reputable number of applications, thus abscertain where exactly is the issue.

silly me..I've put that backwards have I? I have downloaded apps in the past that became incompatible with my new iOS when I upgraded the iOS. Apps from cydia can also cause a "rogue"..if you know that it's only one app that is crashing then that is more likely. Stefano's solution is good..make sure of the back ups though.

by

Let's say that a revirgin with backup allows you to become selective with the apps you use. Refraining from downloaded "installers" is not only a way to respect copyright laws, but avoids lots of hassles that regular Cydia applications and App Store downloads don't have.

As for updates, I assumed kimmy does her regular updates both by iOS, both by iTunes. If she doesn't, she should start.

If she does, a revirgin is always safe to perform.
