Replaced battery, iPhone restarts itself automatically every 5 minutes

So I replaced my 3GS battery with the one I bought here, according to the manual and it all went pretty well. I plugged my phone in and turned it on and it all seemed fine, and it began charging. After a few minutes though, it turned itself off and back on. It has been doing this for the past hour or two. Any ideas? Running 5.0.

This is happening to me after battery replacement, too. Will swap old battery in and report back.

== Update ==

Swapped battery back in. That fixed the problem. I will contact iFixit or find a different source for the battery.

ericstumpyjoe, try to replace the battery with your old one again and see if it stops. It does sound like a bad battery. I would contact the sales staff at ifixit and have the battery replaced.

Glad I found this. Exact same scenario here. Just installed my new battery in my 3GS, now it shuts down, starts up ever 5 minutes or so. Really strange. I'll try putting the old battery back in and see what happens. Thanks for the post!

What happened? Same problem!

Update: The battery was the cuplrit. Replaced with another new one and works great. FYI, the battery I was replacing was a Milliamp and in checking it hat a warranty on it so I got another Milliamp and it's golden. My replacement iFixit battery came later and I shelved it as a backup.
