Lower strip is dead, how can I repair it? What is digitizer?

I have an iPod Touch 3G with 32GB and it is currently on the "Restore completed" screen, which you must press continue, allow/not allow location services, connect to WiFi, and agree to terms. I cannot press anything on the lower part of my screen (except slide to unlock) and I was wondering how I can repair it.

I heard something about a digitizer, what is that? I heard you need to check eBay for one, all I see are repair kits and screens, is that the right one?

Hi, Matthew here.

A dead strip can either be...

1) Digitizer ( Glass display )

2) Logic board digitizer connector.

Its most likely the digitizer, However, I have had other customers iPod Touches with a digitizer connector failure which means soldering. Even though i have fixed each one 100%, its incredibly difficult.

Matt.

Is the digitizer just the front screen? If so, am I allowed to post links here? I want to know if this is the right one.

Yes, of course you may post links. That is the only way for us to see what you see....;-)
