Thinking to upgrade CPU to a faster one.

Hi:

I was looking for somebody that can confirm that they upgrade a iMac 27'' mid 2009 with a E7600 processor to a faster one.

I review a lot of guides, responses in forums.. seems like Q9550S is the best option.. but

I need someone that confirm that did it, and works. Also, what else is needed for that: Upgrade memory? Drivers?

Thanks a ñpt

Thanks.

I feel that I need more power on the CPU because I started to work with Video.. on some situations.. CPU is 100% and stops respond the rest of the tasks.

I have 8 Gb of RAM and 50% of space.

BTW.. this guide is for the upgrading from i5 to i7.. but I have a core2duo processor. I think is not suitable upgrade from core2duo to i5 or i7 right?

Thanks

It's always best to start by maxing out the RAM if you're looking for speed increases, also to ensure your HD has at least 20% free space for swap files... As to the processor swap see this previous Answer Only you can answer if the cost will be worth the gain.
