Just replaced battery, charges part of time

I just replaced my macbook battery, and it only charges sometimes. The power cord works fine and charges the old battery. Any answers?

You have given us that it charges your old battery fine. That says that the charging circuitry on the logic board is good.

If the new battery is not full and charging only intermittently then the circuitry inside the battery is defective. There is actually a controller chip inside the battery that tells it when to charge and when it is fully charged. Click here for a video explaining the chip in the battery I am referring to. I would return the battery to the vendor for exchange or refund.

I think that is the answer. I did not want to have to send it back to iFixit. Glad I kept the box.
