replaced battery and the battery percentage display is faulty

I've just replaced the battery for my iphone 3gs as my phone just kept turning itself off halfway threw calls and was advised to replace battery which i have but now the battery percentage display doesn't seem to be working properly as it stays the same after its been charging for a good while for example it's showing me that the percentage is at 58% whether i have had it charging for a hour or been using it all day,I have noticed though that if i turn it off then back on it seems to update the percentage to a more true reading as it was 58% then i turned off and back on and its now43%,can anybody help me with this, thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Check correct positioning of the mainboard. Try to allign with "center-holes"...

Battery maybe dedicated to 3G and not for 3GS.
