White screen after LCD replacement

I have a 2008 macbook A1181, MB881LL/A and I am getting a white screen. I swapped screens with a working lcd from a 2009 model and I am still getting a white screen. I tried different sticks of ram, its not that either.

Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong?

The white screen most likely means your hard drive has gone bad. Try removing and replacing or removing it and see if it boots from your system installation disk. I just did this repair same repair an hour ago and the new hard drive did the trick.

I have, a tech suggested it might be the cable. I bought the laptop off ebay with the descrip saying that the screen shows white but when tried with another screen is displays and functions normally. The same for when hooked up to a VGA display.
