Missing screw holes, causing wifi not to work

Hi,

I have a iPhone 4 with a wifi problem. The wifi doesn't work at all, but I found the problem. When I opened the iPhone I saw that there were some screws missing on the wifi plate, so I ordered some screws and tried to screw them in, but they weren't going in. So I removed the wifi plate and saw that the screw holes were gone. So my question is if there's some way to fix it.

Here are some pictures of it:

Thanks!

Hey,

i am having the same issue, but the problem is, in my opinion, is not the screw holes, but the spot on the top of the motherboard that is broken.

look at the top screw of this "wifi antenna", i mean the really long screw spot. it holds down two "horns" of the motherboard, the right one on your is broken, as in mine. i think this is what is causing the issue. and i would love to know if it's fixable

You only need one screw and it's the longest one for the wifi plate. Also there is a little brass clip that contacts the motherboard.

Contact www.iphonepartsaustralia.com they should be able to mail one for less than $10

I still have the long screw and the clip, but the wifi still doesn't work.

And are you sure that you only need that one screw and not all the screws?

Mine is just missing the bottom one and the wifi works but the signal sucks As does the bluetooth signal. I think those are connecting things to the antenna and am not sure how to fix it either

I did lost the emi clip too and used a tiny bit of foil (thicker than household foil) to temporarily fix the problem as another commenter did. It worked well but you have to be very careful that the the bit of foil is not making contact with other parts of the board and that it is also making contact with the screw. Hope this helps.

Hi Tonny,

Did you ever get this sorted? I bought a phone off ebay with the same problem and the screws are missing from that one also because there are no holes in the board for the srcews to go into.

May be a bit late and some one may of answered this

The fault is the wifi contact is broken off

Where thr top middle screw is to its right the pcb us broken there's ment to be a contact for the wifi antena (the metal plate)
