Removing power volume button tape.

I removed the logic board including the power and volume button tape. I notice that i nicked the tape by a screw hole cutting through the tape. Will this impact the volume button or is there a redundancy that will allow the button to stil work?

If your talking about the flex cable (power / volume cable) you'll have to look at the copper traces under magnification such as a jewelers loupe. If a trace is cut, you'll need a new cable. You could also use a multimeter in continuity mode to test for broken circuitry.

If your talking about the black tape that covers the volume up/down buttons, it has to be taken off in order to remove the old cable and reapply a new one -- and you don't have to replace it.
