Trouble connecting to Apple Cinema Display HD 23 inch

I'm having a major issue connecting to my apple display. I seem to have lost R from RGB.

Only issue is that I have tested the display with a differnt computer, an Asus laptop using DVI, which worked fine.

I understand that there are different DVI pinouts but surely there must be continuity between which pin is used for what.

Then tried the laptop, plugging it into different display, which also tested out fine.I then plugged it straight back into my apple display and everything is all blue still.

I'm rather confused why both work fine when connected to other devices and yet when coupled the MacBook Pro and apple display misbehave?
