After replacement of screen and dock, display shows only blue stribes

Hello,

I dropped my Iphone 4 and it cracked, and in an attempt to change the front screen, I ruined the dock connector. I got a new screen and dock, and have replaced them both, but unfortunatly now I cant turn on my phone. The sounds go on when i turn it on, but the display shows only a black screen with one blue stribe in the middle.

I miss my phone, pls someone tell what could be wrong?

Thx, Louise, Denmark

Hi Louise,

It sounds like the LCD screen is damaged. Depending on the level of quality of replacement part it could have been faulty to begin with or you have damaged it during installation.

I would recommend taking the phone apart and inspecting the front assembly again. First check that the flex cables are not damaged (which i doubt they are in this instance).

Then check the back of the LCD screen - a common mistake is to screw the left most screw of the wifi EMI shield in too tightly. By doing this the screw puts allot of pressure on the top left of the back of the LCD screen and creates an indent - causing permanent damage to the LCD screen.

Please see this picture for a return we had where the customer had done just this.
