Keeps reboot, returned error 9 during restore

Hello there

My apple tv suddenly not work properly. i just power off at the night and power on next day

when I power on apple TV, it looks start boot sequence.

but just after apple mark shows on screen, it reboot.

apple mark -> reboot -> apple mark -> reboot...

i tried restore it via iTunes using micro USB.

apple tv appears on iTunes. but not able to restore. iTunes returns error 9 every trial.

LED on apple TV keeps blinking 3 times every second. then more than 5 times blinking a second. it looks rebooting..

is there anyone having same issue or any solution?

looking for any help.

thanks

Update

thanks machead3

it looks apple tv2 accepts remote signal. i was able to enter DFU using remote..

anyways, mine is still not work. i tried almost every method i was able to find. all returns error 9.

i was for sure mine has s/w issue not h/w but it looks h/w fault. it keeps reboot during iTunes restore process then returns 9 error.

this product is not available in my country, so i was not able to get any support from apple. going to stats cost 20s of apple tv.

it's time to give up... good bye apple tv2. i was happy with you.

(but 10$ per month is too expensive. i thought you are my forever friend!)

my new friend, apple tv3 will be arrived by 15th May.. looking forward to meet it. don't betray me this time....

Chosen Solution

Completely disconnect the AppleTV from everything. Make sure iTunes is completely up to date. Plug only the USB cable. Try the restore again.

About the blinking Apple says:

  1. Flashes three times = Rejecting a command from the remote (you've paired a remote with Apple TV but you're using a remote that's not paired); see Apple TV: Pairing and unpairing the Apple Remote.
  2. Flashes quickly = Having issues. Your Apple TV may need to be reset and restored to factory settings. See Apple TV (2nd generation): Restoring your Apple TV. If this does not resolve the issue, refer to the Service FAQ for additional assistance.

Are you connecting through a USB 1.1 port (instead of a USB 2.0 port)? If so, I think that may be the source of your problems.
