Replaceing the screen, I turned it on.

I was working on an ipod touch 4th gen and am an idiot for it, but hit the power button. I can feel heat coming from the ipod itself so I know it is on. I have no screen attached and do not want to play around with it. Is there a way to turn it off from its current state?

Yeah, if you use the power button, the slide to power off won't work without the screen.

If your really careful, you can attach a screen in order to shut it down. This is the preferred method. I accidentally hit the power button myself from time to time and just pop on a screen to shut it back down.

or...if you have good soldering skills...

Carefully desolder the + terminal and solder it back. I'm pretty sure that when you solder it back you'll have to press the power button to turn it on.

Maybe another tech here can validate that, since I can't recall off-hand.
