i have an iPhone 4S, it has a slight problem. the phone only powers off either when connected to the charger or laptop via usb. otherwise, it powers off and restarts by itself if not connected to charging line. it won't switch off if not connected. what can the problem be? any advice?

sounds like a software issue, have you done a backup and restore?

What happens if you plug cable into iPhone charging port, but leave other end free (not in charger, not in USB of computer)?

if you leave the other end not connected, it doesn't switch off. It has to have some charging effect for it to switch off
