What to do after spilling tea on my mac?

I just spilt about half a cup of warm tea (not hot) on my macbook pro 13inch. On most of the keyboard.

Straight away i grabbed some absorbant paper towel and put it all over the spill to soak the tea up. then i turned the comp off. i wiped up the excess with tissues/wet completely squeezed out sponge. then i turned it upside down and let the tea drip out, wiping it up again.

I then used a hairdryer on a cool setting twice, for about 30seconds each time to dry it up, continuosly turning the mac upside down to make sure it had all dripped out. i also blew across the keyboard.

someone told me about rice absorbing the liquid. I have put rice on top of the keyboard, but will get more rice so i can submerge the laptop in a container of rice. it is open and airing out at the moment.

Firstly, will the rice work?

Second, should i leave it sitting upside down?

Third, how long should i leave it before trying to turn it on? some have said a day, others a week.

Lastly, should i remove the keyboard myself to dry it out completely? and how would i do this?

cheers,

Brigitte

Tea may include milk and sugars that will eat the circuits over time. You should identify your exact Mac - use the guide to carefully open, clean and dry the inside & keyboard... there's nothing between the keyboard and the inside of the laptop but air. Several changes of rice/relative humidity, use of alcohol all can affect drying time. No battery, no power for DAYS not hours, longer the better.
