Apple went back and forth between an integrated CPU and a removable CPU. Unfortunately, I believe this model features the CPU integrated onto the logic board.

You can, however replace the logic board with a 2.4 GHz board from a Mid 2007 machine (do a Google search for part number 661-4439). But that won't be cheap. Your call!

Good luck!

That's probably a wise move. It's amazing how expensive specific parts can be!

I've had two 2133 20' iMac's and both had a removable CPU. I replaced the 2,0 Ghz processor of one of them by a 2,4Ghz (coming from a 24" defective logic board) and it runs perfectly well. It shows up in the system info part as a 2,4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.

So have a look under the bonnet to see if it's removable !

Likewise can I also replace a 20" iMac(2133) 2.4 Ghz (mid-2007)logic board with an iMac (2210) 2.6 Ghz(early 2008) logic board? Are the components compatible i.e. WiFi,Bluetooth etc? The step by step guide seems to imply that you can as the instructions to remove/install are exactly the same.
