LED backlight, for the LCD display on any mobile iDevice.

After obtaining a large amount of broken LCD displays for iPads and iPhones, I have stripped them down, and have removed the LED back light arrays from the LCD displays. Does anyone have any idea how the iPhones or iPads power these LED array, as I can only manage to light up a single LED at a time, by giving power to that one specifically. Any help would be great as I would like to power the whole array in some mini projects, and I'm just having no luck at all.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Conan, take a look on here and follow the links that are left in the comment by jseraphim. Pretty good description of the actual circuit. The only other thing I would do is to look at the available iPhone circuit diagram and layout and see where to light up the LCD.

Thank you for the schematics oldturkey, I'll try and utilise these to find how to power solely the LED arrays without having them attached to a device.

Thanks for the help turkey, the info you gave me was useful but, unfortunately, I didn't manage to solve my problem with the powering issue for the LED arrays, but they were very interesting to trawl through. Thanks.
