Why does my Airport take so long to connect?

Sometimes, when I open my MacBook, it takes a few minutes to find any wireless networks. On other MacBooks, it takes a few seconds. Sometimes, my MacBook finds a network right away, but sometimes, it takes forever. How can I fix this?

This may or may not be a factor but go to system preference, network, then click on advanced. in the first tab, under airport, check out how many preferred networks you have listed, get rid of any that aren't networks you use regularly and finally if you're left with more than one network drag your home network to the top of the list.

hope that helps

I've done this before, and it worked a little. I'm trying it again, and I'll see how it goes after a few days.

Mine has the same issue, started happening after i upgraded to snow leopard. I haven't found the culprit of this yet... although when i changed the network configuration away from a 128WEP to a wpa it started connecting right away 95% of the time as opposed to 60% before...
