i replaced the lcd / digitizer on the iPod because it was cracked and the iPod touch worked completely fine before now i have the screen all hooked up and nothing shows up on the screen and it won't show up on my computer and i checked that power/volume flex cable and everything looked fine

Your ipod would still show up on the computer with a bad flex cable. Try holding the lock and home buttons for about 15 seconds and see if that wakes it up. Did you use an online guide to replace the screen?

How did you life the motherboard? In my experience I have never had this issue. I have had some power down and needed to have a hard reset done but never completely dead.

It sounds like it is a bad screen. Check to see if the connectors are bent in any way. Every once in a while some replacement screens are just DOA when they arrive. Hopefully whoever you bought it from will send you a replacement.

I work at a cell phone repair shop, we fix ipods as well as iphones. And every 4 or 5 ipod 4th gens that come in, this happens to one.
What you need to do is put the ipod into DFU mode and restore it. Not sure why this happens, but that's the cure. Enjoy!

How do you put it into dfu mode when it's completely unresponsive?
I changed a screen and it was fine, but customer wanted a different colour. The old screen went white screen of death now with the new screen on there's no sign of life. At wits end now. Can you help?

Here's a tutorial with pics that everyone has been requesting. I've used this method over a dozen times successfully. Good Luck!!
There are 3 small battery terminals (shown below). You only want to touch the one to the far right (circled below). Avoid touching the other 2 terminals!!

Thanks for the info. One thing still troubles me, when the oem (cracked) screen is plugged in everything works fine, but when the replacement one is installed nothing will even power on. iTunes won't recognize it. BTW this is the 3rd screen I'm on (seller has been great)
I spoke to someone that said these iPods will rarely not accept aftermarket screens, any thoughts on that?

That is untrue. I have done hundred of screen replacements on ipod touch 4th gens and I very rarely have any issue, unless the screen is defective. Is the iPod water damaged at all? There is a liquid damage indictor at the bottom of the headphone jack, if it is red or pink it has been exposed to liquid.
I would try a different screen from a different seller. I have had bad batches from particular sellers but it shouldn't make your iPod completely unresponsive. If you have another iPod touch around you should test the screen on that. The bad batch I got had stickers with the seller's brand right on digitizer connection (the long one) if that helps

still nothing, and no I've done it before and all i did was pull off the screen, took off that silver thing lifted up the top of the motherboard attached the digitizer put back the silver thing attacked the lcd and put the new screen on top

I am facing this issue right now. Ive done plenty of screen replacements in the past and this one was successful but the digitizer didnt work. After re-assembling the digitizer connection, the iPod would not even be recognized by the pc or itunes? Any one know what to look for or what might have caused this. i did bend the board a little but its a neccessity when you change the digitizer cable
