Power button bracket broken.

Hi,

an ipod touch 4 has been dropped and screen and back cover have been replaced but the power button isnt working. The small metal plate which sits behind it has broken and 1 of the screw holes is now missing as a result of this. I think this is the problem because the volume buttons still work and i dont think its the ribbon. Problem is I cnt seem to be able to get a replacement bracket from anywhere. can anyone help please?

thanks

I also need that part for my son's iPod, and haven't been at all successful in finding a source. I'll probably end up trying to lay my hands on a broken unit to use as a parts donor. I've been looking for a while.

That is a tricky one. That ribbon is very fragile and could have been torn even slightly during the drop. I have had torn ribbons that only effected the lock button and not the volume button depending on where the damage is. Look very closely at the ribbon right under the button with a magnifying glass or something, you might find a little rip. It could be the bracket like you were saying but from what I have seen you would have had to really drop the ipod to hurt it. It might be worth a shot if you can find a one for parts, I have never seen that part for sale. Best of luck!
