Why won't the left main speakers work?

I bought new speakers for my Onkyo receiver. I've connected the speakers with speaker wire to the main speakers outlet in the back of the receiver. Only the right side speakers produce sound. To check if I'd made a faulty connection, I then switched each around, and the same result occurred; the right side works, the left does not.

Laura, don't mean to insult you, but did you check the balance settings? Any difference?

by

Yes, I'd already looked into the balance settings.

Looking at the manual, t appears as though this is over-my-head. I will look into finding professional repair. Thank you!

if you have no difference on your balance settings, I would go ahead and take a look at the AN7470 Stereo decoder as well as the IC NJM45580-x. Of course you also should look for any burned out components on the logic board. Download the service manual for your Onkyo from here. It does have the circuit diagram as well as a parts list that will help you with it.
