Broken fan connection on logic board - replacement? other connection?

When removing my fan for cleaning, the power connection on the logic board partially broke off. Now the fan is not working any more of course.

Is there a possibility to buy a new one?

There also is a power connection close to the fan which is unused and looks exactly the same - can I maybe attach the fan cable to this one or even remove it to replace the broken one?

Here is a picture of the setup with the broken connection marked in red and the other one in green:

This is bad! The other connector is used for the heat sink themperature sensor. No idea why yours is not connected.

As for the broken fan connector, the only possibility saving you from scrapping the board is soldering the fan wires directly or solder on a new connector from a salvaged board.

Both very tricky.

I can see that you are representing a mac store in Berlin which is nearby for me. Do you have a possibility to organize such a replacement connector?

The better method to solve the problem is to buy a faulty board and salvage the fan socket from it. It can be removed from the damaged board and soldered to your board using a hot air gun with a fine tip. remacberlin would be the perfect tech to do this job if you can contact him.

Thanks for the credit but it still is a delicate operation with possibilty of failure. I indeed can salvage a socket from a broken board (plenty of that stuff around here ;-))

I don't want to use this platform for advertisement too bluntly. But you can still contact me via the info in my prifile.
