Hi
My USB ports are giving trouble, I have to wiggle them constantly for it to make contact. It's getting worse, now I have to keep something like a flash drive beneath it to hold it in position.
I've opened it to check for a problem with the soldering, but it seems OK. I think it might be the female connector itself. Can I replace it, if yes, does anyone know the part name/number I can use?

The USB ports are integrated to the logic board and can't be replaced. Well a good tech could desolder them and install new ones but it's not a newbie job. Your ports seems to have a deformation and are probably wider than they should be that's why the connector isn't tight-fitting. Try to use tweezers to compress the port walls and check if there's corrosion on the four internal connector pins. Use a small jeweller flat head screwdriver to clean the pins. Before doing this, power off the machine, take off the AC adapter and the battery.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I'll try what you've suggested. I am capable of soldering new connectors myself, its just the part that I need.
So, if I come right with bending the pins or walls, great! If not I'll resort to plan B.

There are six pins to desolder on each USB female port to take it off. Two pins that retain the connector to the board and four pins for the in/out data transfers and ground. You will need a iron solder with a tiny tip cause that's a micro soldering stuff. Before doing this job to your MacBook logic board you should experiment the technic on a dead board. As I said before it's not a newbie job and you don't want to damage your logic board don't you ?
