Screen won't turn on?

Droid 2 screen refused to turn on after a routine battery change. It will still hold a charge (battery light will light up as well) when plugged into the wall when the battery is inside the Droid. Also, it is able to turn on (when battery is charged) by holding the power button (I can only tell that it's on because of the distinct vibration it gives and also the notification ringtone). After it's on, I will continue to get vibrations and notifications when I receive text messages throughout the day however I can not get the screen to respond in any way. I have not gotten any response with the touch buttons (Menu, home, back, search) and the notification light at the top right of the Droid does not light up when I get a text. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! :)
