iPhone won't turn on after replacing battery

How's it going there guys?

Recently attempted to replace the back cover on my iphone 3g and Decided to replace the battery at the same time.

Order the wrong battery by mistake, one for a 3gs.

Put the battery in a sealed up the phone and gave it a fully charge , the phone turned on a ran fine for about 12 hour until it became unresponsive and turned off.

Now it won't turn on even when connected to mains or computers .

Any ideas on what has happened ?

The old battery is now somewhere in a land fill.

Are there anyways of checking if the logic board is ok with a set of phase testers?

Before i order up the correct battery.
