actually, according to Mactracker, you can't use the full 8GB of RAM in any of the A1181 model MacBook Core 2 Duo machines.

the maximum depends on the specific speed-version of this model you have

- the Mid 2007 (Core 2 Duo) model 2.0 or 2.16GHz versions support up to 3.0GB

- the Late 2007 (Memron) model 2.0 or 2.2GHz versions support up to 6.0GB

- likewise the Early 2008 (Penryn) 2.1 or 2.4GHz, and Late 2008 2.1 GHz versions also support up to 6.0GB

if you install two 4GB memory modules in these latter machines only 6GB is available

according to mac tracker the late 2009 can support 8gb.
