Vista Home Premium Freezes On "Completing Installation"

Hi Guys,

Got a HP DV7 with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. When Vista hits "Completing Installation" it freezes at 75%. I tried 2 different DVD's with the same result.

However, out of curiosity, I installed Vista Basic with no problem, however, I need VHP on it because I have the product key for it on the label.

The BIOS is a InsydeH20, F.43, but it has very limited settings (dunno what HP is thinking). A forum mentioned AHCI, however, this BIOS really limits you to changing a few things like boot sequence. <argh>

Any suggestions?

Official Solution: I'll leave the post for other people that may be googling a solution. HP has decided to use a stripped down InsydeH20 bios, in addition you can only re-install Vista Home Premium with their restoration disks.

Possible Work Around: Install Home Premium on another brand of laptop. Image the drive to a usb device, then restore the image to the HP. It should work, but will have to go to HP's "support" site and download the DV7 drivers. Once all the drivers are install, image the drive again to a DVD using something like Paragon in case you need to re-install the OS later, or when you sell the system.
