Bluetooth stopped working after replacing the optical drive.

I recently replaced the optical drive with a second hdd all went well but for own bad luck the bluetooth stopped working, though the wireless is working just fine.

I tried SMC, PRAM reset couple of times, but still the bluetooth icon has a wavy line and when clicked it says Bluetooth: Not Available.

Do you think I need a replacement? Or it would come back to life sometime in the future?

Although the board is for both the bluetooth and the airport/wi-fi only the bluetooth seems to have the problem.

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi Dimitris, Just to find out a little bit more information, have you ruled out a software issue here? Is the result the same when booting to a known working Operating System?

@wes — yes I did a clean install yesterday with 10.7 and still no bluetooth, then I found an old hdd with 10.6.8 but no luck either. I'm starting to feel that I have to buy a bluetooth board!

Ive seen this issue before with another machine I worked on.

Check the cable that connects the wifi/bluetooth, look at the connector to make sure no pins were damaged.

I took the macbook pro apart again, the pins looked fine to me. I checked the antenna cables also and all of the cables looked.

What's the best diagnosis it's the one of the cables or the board itself?

You could disconnect the antenna wire from the logic bd. and using a Ohm meter (analog or digital) check the continuity end to end of the cable.
